Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has been playing for the national team for 16 years and has achieved many impressive records and awards during his career. He has consistently been a key player for the team and his statistics have established him as one of the greatest batsmen in modern cricket history. Former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali praised Kohli highly and suggested that young players should observe how Kohli practices and handles the challenges of a long career.
Basit Ali mentioned on his YouTube channel, “Players like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, Younis Khan, and Javed Miandad had very long careers, and they dedicated a lot of effort to their success. It’s easy to say that Virat Kohli has been playing for 16 years now.”
“But do today’s children understand the challenges and successes he has experienced? Do they know how early he gets up to practice at the gym on the day of a game? Similarly, Sachin Tendulkar loved cricket so much that he slept with a bat next to him,” Basit Ali added.
Basit noted that the talent of a player like Kohli goes beyond his batting skills. During the YouTube conversation, he mentioned that Kohli’s focus is also much stronger than that of his fellow players.
“Just observe his commitment and the effort he invests. Even if he is dismissed early, he gives his best on the field. You can sense that Kohli is on the field just by the reaction of the crowd when the ball comes to him. This is the outcome of the hard work he has dedicated over 16 years,” he concluded.
