Per Elliotte Friedman, the Rangers are willing to keep Vincent Trocheck through the trade deadline if their asking price isn’t met. This shouldn’t be much of a surprise, as it’s the right way to do things. If you have a price, you shouldn’t take a discount just to make a trade. While that’s the proper process in a vacuum, the Rangers have two things working against them: 1) Trocheck is a declining asset and has been awful since Artemi Panarin was moved, and 2) Chris Drury has done nothing to help himself with the letter.
Rumors broke yesterday that Drury and Bill Guerin (Minnesota) were not close on a trade, with Minnesota reportedly offering Charlie Stramel, another prospect, and a 1st round pick for Trocheck. There is no word what Drury is holding out for, with fans being very vocal about Danila Yurov being the centerpiece of the trade.
