The Warriors open play in the MAAC Tournament tonight in Atlantic City, where they’ll face Sacred Heart.
Merrimack took both meetings during the regular season against the Pioneers, earning an 80–72 win on Dec. 29 and following that up with a 75–58 victory at home last month.
Sacred Heart advanced with a 91–80 win over Iona in the first round of the tournament on Thursday. The Pioneers also closed the regular season with a victory over Mount St. Mary’s last week.
Despite finishing the MAAC regular season with a 9–11 record, Sacred Heart has played its best basketball down the stretch. The Pioneers are 4–2 in their last six games and went 9–5 since the middle of January.
