Breaking Report – Konnan Hospitalized – Leg Amputated

Reports from multiple media outlets in Mexico indicate that Carlos Santiago Espada, better known to wrestling fans as Konnan, has undergone surgery to amputate one of his legs due to serious medical complications. The 62-year-old wrestling veteran is currently hospitalized in San Diego, California, where he is said to be in a delicate condition.

The first reports about Konnan’s situation came from the creator “El Potro de Acero en el Ring,” who stated that long-term health issues led to the amputation of a lower limb. The information was later supported by “El Planchitas,” a contributor to the Mexican sports publication RÉCORD, who confirmed that the surgery had taken place.

After conflicting claims about his status began circulating on social media, news outlets such as MVS Noticias and El Heraldo de México clarified that Konnan is alive but remains in fragile health. Additional reports suggest that there is concern that his other leg could also be affected by the same underlying medical issues.

The procedure comes after years of serious health problems for the wrestling legend. His health began declining in the mid-2000s, largely due to the physical toll of his in-ring career.

Konnan underwent a kidney transplant in 2007 following organ failure. By 2022, he revealed that he had been placed back on the transplant waiting list, as kidneys from living donors typically function for about 12 to 15 years. In February 2021, he was hospitalized after contracting COVID-19, which affected his kidneys and led to heart failure. Doctors at the time told him there was a 60% chance he could suffer a full cardiac arrest. He has also undergone major orthopedic procedures, including a hip replacement in 2007.
