The Philadelphia Eagles entered the 2026 offseason with plenty to evaluate after a frustrating follow-up to their championship campaign.
Just one year removed from winning Super Bowl LIX, expectations were sky-high heading into the 2025 season. However, Philadelphia struggled to consistently replicate the dominance that defined their title run. While the roster remained loaded with talent on both sides of the ball, the Eagles endured an inconsistent campaign that ultimately fell short of expectations and left the organization looking for ways to reassert itself among the NFC’s elite.
One of the areas the front office quickly turned its attention to was the defensive line; a group that has long been the identity of the franchise under general manager Howie Roseman. There was speculation that the Eagles could pursue outside help, and the team was linked to star pass rusher Maxx Crosby. However, that speculation faded once the Las Vegas Raiders agreed to trade Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens on Friday, closing the door on a potential blockbuster addition.
While Crosby will not be heading to Philadelphia, the Eagles have reportedly made their first big move of the offseason – reinforcing their defensive front by rewarding one of their own.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Jordan Davis and the Eagles agreed to a three-year, $78 million contract extension that includes $65 million guaranteed and will keep him under contract with Philadelphia for the next four seasons. The deal also makes Davis the highest-paid nose tackle in NFL history.
Davis, who was selected 13th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Georgia, has steadily developed into one of the anchors of Philadelphia’s defensive interior. At 6-foot-6 and 336 pounds, he brings a rare combination of size, athleticism, and power that allows the Eagles to control the line of scrimmage.

The 2025 season featured one of the most memorable moments of Davis’ career. In Week 3 against the Los Angeles Rams, the defensive tackle blocked a potential game-winning field goal and returned it 61 yards for a touchdown, sealing a dramatic 33-26 victory for Philadelphia.
The play immediately became one of the highlights of the Eagles’ season and showcased Davis’ rare athleticism, with tracking data showing the 336-pound lineman reaching 18.59 mph during the return.
Davis has been a key part of the Eagles’ recent success. During the franchise’s 2025 Super Bowl run, he played a major role along the defensive line, helping Philadelphia dominate in the trenches on their way to the championship.
