Rishabh Pant’s WTC Record broken by Mohammad Rizwan

Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan came out as the standout player for his team in the first Test against Bangladesh. Before he got beaten on the fifth Day of the Test, Rizwan came with the score of 171 runs in the first innings, and 51 runs in the second,. With these impressive score, Rizwan became the first Pakistan wicketkeeper to score a century and a half-century in a Test match, along with breaking the record of Rishabh Pant for the most runs in a Test match in World Test Championship (WTC).

Rizwan has a total of 222 runs from the Test match in Rawalpindi. Pant had the previous record with 203 runs at Edgbaston in 2022. Individually for Pakistan, Sarfaraz Ahmed had the previous record with 196 runs against New Zealand in 2023.

The record for the highest score by a Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter in single Test was secured by Taslim Arif. He was on a score of 210 not out against Australia on March 1980.

Pakistan faced their maiden Test defeat to Bangladesh in the history of Test cricket as they lost by 10 wickets.
