Peter Berce: “Finally, here we got about 90 seconds or a minute. Now, Canucks, I’m sure the Canucks fans are not happy about where this situation in the last two years, but did they do what you thought they were going to do at the deadline?”

Dave Pagnotta: “No, I thought they were going to move out more pieces. It sounded like it was going and entering the week that it was going to be a foregone conclusion that Conor Garland got moved, gets moved, and that turned out to be true.

NHL Rumors: Jeff Skinner, San Jose Sharks, and the Vancouver Canucks

I thought they were going to move out more guys. Teddy Blueger. There was a lot of interest. They held on to him. They like him there, so they’re going to try to, they’re going to talk contract extension with Blueger at some point here, now that the deadline is done.

Drew O’Connor generated a ton of interest. Evander Kane, things really slowed down on Kane. They tried to make that happen. They were willing to retain half of his contract, and it didn’t get there.

I didn’t think anything was close on Brock Boeser, and I wouldn’t be shocked if that remains the case for a while, but it looks like Jake DeBrusk wants out, and that’s something to keep tabs on this summer as well. There’s gonna be more activity this summer for sure.”

Peter Berce: “Get to this before we hit the break. The goaltending position in Minnesota. Pretty stacked. Did (Bill) Guerin ever or were other teams trying to pry away (Jesper Wallstedt) from Minnesota? And if that was the case, was the asking price so high that it just wasn’t going to meet the asking price, at least for Bill Guerin?”

Dave Pagnotta: “Yeah, I don’t think anything got super close on that end. If they were going to make a move, the Wild were for a top-six calibre guy. And maybe this was for the center position. Maybe this was them, trying to look at the center position and getting a legit 2C, because we know they were in on Vincent Trocheck. And then they were out because it didn’t happen.

NHL Rumors: Rangers, Trocheck, Schmaltz, Hurricanes, and a Trade Came In Too Late

And then teams weren’t willing to meet whatever the price was of the New York Rangers. And Minny made an offer for him a little while ago. And then just maintain that line of communication as the Rangers tried to see if they can beat it, and they just didn’t feel comfortable moving Trocheck at all.

So anyway, that being said, I think that’s something they’ll explore in the summer, because they’ve got, some really, really good pieces on this team. They got (Filip) Gustavsson in net. There’s an opportunity for them to move Wallstedt in the summer. By all accounts, are going to explore.”
