The March 9 edition of WWE RAW went down at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington. This was a big night for the red brand on the road to WrestleMania, and we had to determine new #1 contenders for the Women’s Tag Team Championships.
AJ Lee shocked the WWE Universe when she beat Becky Lynch for her title. This week on RAW, we saw an absolute battle to see who will face AJ Lee next.
This gauntlet match saw IYO SKY vs. Bayley vs. Lyra Valkyria vs. Ivy Nile vs. Asuka vs. Raquel Rodriguez. It started out with IYO against Lyra, and the two had a good bit of time in the ring. Then IYO was able to advance after nailing an Over The Moonsault. Raquel Rodriguez came out next to join the match.
IYO Sky didn’t give up easily, even though Raquel Rodriguez put her through the ringer when it comes to offense. After a while Liv Morgan showed up to distract IYO, but then Stephanie Vaquer ran down to fight Morgan off as the two brawled up the ramp. Then IYO nailed an inside cradle move off the top rope to get the pinfall on Raquel.
Rodriguez destroyed IYO with a big boot after she lost, and then she finished the job with a few more unhinged power moves. Ivy Nile ran down after that and she pinned IYO to eliminate her. After that, Bayley came out to join the match.
Ivy Nile and Bayley had a bit of a longer confrontation. Although Ivy Nile had an impressive showing in this match, Bayley didn’t give up without a fight. In then end, Bayley nailed a Bayley to Belly and advanced after she pinned Nile.
The final pairing came down to Asuka and Bayley. This match kept going until Asuka got an Asuka Lock on Bayley, but she fought out of it. Then Bayley was able to score the win, and that means she will face AJ Lee next week on RAW in Texas with the Women’s IC Title on the line.
