The new Race Day DLC for Cities: Skylines adds the ability to create race events, with players able to create bespoke venues.
- Race-themed Race Day DLC coming to Cities: Skylines
- Players can create street or purpose-built tracks
When you think of Cities: Skylines, motorsport probably doesn’t immediately spring to mind.
The city-building sim, which is like the modern equivalent of Sim City, is about to receive an interesting piece of content that lets players host racing events on their city streets.
The Race Day DLC, available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of they game, allows the creation of cycle, running and car races, as well as parades. You choose the route and the event time, and the game will automatically shut down your streets, presumably disrupting your citizens’ daily commute.
The beauty of the race event creator is that players can either choose to design a street circuit, incorporating their city’s highways and byways, or a purpose-built race track, so you can create your own facsimiles of famous venues.
And it sounds like your virtual populace can drive on these circuits when not in use. Just think: your little people can nip through Eau Rouge on their way to Lidl. You just can’t buy that type of experience in the middle aisle.

Developed by Tantalus Media, the new content will be released today (10th March, 2026) and will include specialised event buildings and spectator stands, with players able to manage ticket prices and other key details to maximise return on investment.
Just remember that racing doesn’t last forever, so your streets will need to re-open at some stage…
Update
The Race Day DLC is available alongside a major new patch for the game, adding a chunk of new content and features. The update is free to all players, while the Race Day DLC will cost £10.99 / $12.99.
Now is a great time to jump into Cities: Skylines, with the game currently on sale with a 90% discount on Steam (£2.49 / €2,79 / $2.99).
