Tiafoe vs Zverev and Sinner vs Fonseca, Betting Predictions, Indian Wells

As the tournament moves into the Round of 16, the action at the 2026 Paribas Open intensifies with a mix of veteran presence and the tour’s newest sensation. Tuesday’s schedule features some very interesting meetings for Indian Wells betting, including Tiafoe vs Zverev and a first ever meeting between Jannik Sinner and Joao Fonseca. Let’s look a bit closer at these two match-ups along with our betting predictions and good odds.

Frances Tiafoe vs. Alexander Zverev

The 21st-seeded Frances Tiafoe meets world No. 4 Alexander Zverev in a matchup that has historically favored the German (Zverev leads the head-to-head 7-1). However, Tiafoe has looked particularly comfortable on the faster desert courts this year. Zverev is aiming for his first Indian Wells title to add to his extensive Masters 1000 collection.

Tournament Results so far

  • Frances Tiafoe: Tiafoe has been efficient through the opening rounds. After a first-round bye, he defeated Jenson Brooksby 6-4, 6-2 and followed it up with a dominant 6-1, 6-2 win over Italy’s Flavio Cobolli. He has yet to drop a set in the tournament.
  • Alexander Zverev: Zverev has been equally impressive, navigating a tricky draw. After his bye, he beat Matteo Berrettini 6-3, 6-4 and then moved past world No. 28 Brandon Nakashima in the third round. His serve has been a major factor, allowing him to dictate play from the start.

Predictions and odds

This is not a good matchup for the American and Zverev’s style of play does not seem to be easy for him. I bet on him to take one set today in his current great form, but Zverev to progress to the next round. My bet: Zverev to win in 3 at odds 3.50 or +250.

Jannik Sinner vs. Joao Fonseca

World No. 2 Jannik Sinner faces the tournament’s biggest surprise, 19-year-old Brazilian Joao Fonseca. This is a first-time meeting and a significant test for Fonseca, who has become the first Brazilian to reach the fourth round at Indian Wells since 2012. Sinner remains the heavy favorite, but Fonseca’s fearless “all-or-nothing” ball-striking has already claimed several seeded victims this week.

Tournament Results so far

  • Jannik Sinner: Sinner has spent very little time on court. Following his bye, he dismissed Dalibor Svrcina 6-1, 6-1 and then outclassed Denis Shapovalov 6-3, 6-2. Despite a brief lapse in his opening service game against Shapovalov, the Italian has looked nearly untouchable from the baseline.
  • Joao Fonseca: Fonseca’s path has been much more dramatic. After beating R. Collignon in the first round, he saved two match points to upset 16th seed Karen Khachanov. He then delivered his best performance to date, a 6-2, 6-3 win over home favorite Tommy Paul, to set up this clash with Sinner.

Predictions and odds

The ever-hyped Fonseca has found form again and deserves to be in this clash but now it’s another level needed (not at least more consistency) if he wants to take this further. I don’t think he has what it takes against an in-form Sinner that missed this event last year and never won here. He will be up for the task. Sinner to win in 2 sets at odds 1.33.
