Charlie Dempsey Joins Birthright, William Regal & Fit Finlay Appear

When the Birthright faction was first formed in NXT, two more recruits were already in mind to go after: Uriah Connors and Charlie Dempsey. As the sons of Fit Finlay and William Regal respectively, the second-generation stable of Lexis King (Brian Pillman’s son), Arianna Grace (the daughter of Santino Marella) and her fiance, Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo, were hoping to bring them into their cause of embracing their legacies instead of rejecting where they came from as they had been doing.

It took some convincing, but Connors was eventually swayed over, turning on his Chase University faction and leaving Kale Dixon and Andre Chase.

Dempsey remained a hold out, though, repeatedly rejecting the group’s advances and blowing them off, while continuing to hang around his own former teammate, Tavion Heights, who had split off from No Quarter Catch Crew after Myles Borne had also previously done. Heights, annoyed at their pestering, suggested a one night team up again with Dempsey to face Connors and King.

During that tag team match, however, Fit Finlay and William Regal made an appearance, coming out to watch the match right at a moment where both Heights and Dempsey were on the outside. Dempsey looked at his father and decided to turn on Heights, tossing him back into the ring after suplexing him, giving the victory to King and Connors.

Dempsey then joined Birthright in the ring to pose with them, and is now officially a member of the group. Check out footage of that moment here:

Two members of Birthright will have a match next week against Hank Walker and Tank Ledger in the first round of a three match tournament to set up the future challengers for the NXT Tag Team Championship at NXT Stand & Deliver. It has yet to be announced which two members of Birthright will be in that match, but it’s entirely possible Dempsey has already booked himself a better slot on the roster just by joining that group, if he ends up being chosen as one of the two representatives.
