WSC Launches Cost-Saving TCR Trophy Concept

WSC has developed the concept of a TCR Trophy that will be licensed to selected TCR-sanctioned series, with the aim for encouraging teams and drivers to continue racing older cars together with the newer models.
The following models are eligible for the TCR Trophy category: Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce and Veloce RF, Audi RS 3 LMS Gen 1 SEQ and DSG, CUPRA Gen 1 SEQ and DSG, Honda Civic FK2, Hyundai Veloster N, LADA Vesta and Vesta Sport, Opel/Vauxhall Astra, Peugeot 308 and 308 Racing Cup, Renault Mégane RS, Subaru STI, Volkswagen Golf GTI SEQ and DSG.
The TCR Trophy grants special discount codes while purchasing spare parts from the manufacturers’ customer services.
WSC President Marcello Lotti explained: “We estimate that these measures will lead to significant reductions the running costs.”
The first series to adopt the TCR Trophy category from the current season are TCR Eastern Europe, TCR Croatia and the Coppa Italia Turismo.
Equipe Classic Racing Plans Further Single-Seater Expansion
A new era of single-seaters is to be promoted for a 2027 race series. The plan is to launch Formula Libre V8 Plus for any V8, V10 or V12-engined car built and used between 1986 and 2006. The obvious targets are Formula 3000 cars and Formula Nippon cars, but the series will have a wide remit for any cars running to period specification. The aim is to run five races, with three in the UK and two at European venues, focusing on 20-minute sprint races. Full details can be found here.
