Manager: Cub Swanson set to end ‘legendary career’ at UFC 327

Cub Swanson will be making the final walk to the Octagon at UFC 327.

Swanson has been a pro fighter since 2004 and made his UFC debut in 2011. The fan-favorite featherweight has been fighting the who’s who of the division, and at age 42, he will be ending his career.

Swanson’s management, Bloodline Combat Sports Agency, revealed on Instagram that UFC 327 will be it for Swanson.

“Team captain @cubswanson (Cub Swanson) takes the final walk to the Octagon to finish his legendary career in Miami!,” the management company wrote.

Swanson is 30-14 as a pro and is set to take on Nate Landwehr at UFC 327 in Miami on April 11. The fan-favorite hasn’t fought since December of 2024, when he scored a third-round knockout win over Billy Quarantillo. In the UFC, Swanson is 15-10 and has notable wins over Dustin Poirier, Charles Oliveira, Jeremy Stephens, and Darren Elkins, among others.

In his UFC and WEC tenure, Swanson is known for putting on exciting fights, as he’s been awarded with post-fight honors a total of fifteen times. He’s also one of the top fighters to never have fought for the title in WEC or the UFC, as when he got close to the title shot, he lost an important fight, but still will go down as a fan-favorite.

Cub Swanson hinted at retirement after his last fight

Following Swanson’s KO win over Billy Quarantillo, he thought that it could be his final fight.

Swanson felt like it was a good way to go out, but wouldn’t confirm if that was it for him.

“I’ve been doing it for a long time,” Swanson said to MMAJunkie Radio in April. “When is enough enough? That’s kind of where I’m at. … . I know I can still do it, so I’m open to another fight if it’s the right fight and I get excited about it. But I haven’t gotten offered anything. I did get asked. (UFC matchmaker) Sean (Shelby) called me for a short-notice fight, and I don’t even remember who it was now.

“But I was literally eating a bowl of pozole with my family and I was like, ‘Do I want to fight next week? No, I don’t.’ If they give me some notice and a name that excites me, I’m open to it. But I’m more 60-40, not fighting any more at this point. … I’m trying to do things the right way. If my last one was my last one, I’m OK with that.”

Now, after some time, Swanson decided to take one more fight and have a true retirement fight at UFC 327.
