Only days now until Newcastle United fans travel to Barcelona.

The great news is, there now will be a lot more of them able to go!

Newcastle United were originally allocated 2,215 tickets for the Champions League last 16 second leg.

However, Rafa Yuste, the acting president of Barcelona, confirmed this week the City Council has allowed Barcelona to open additional sections of the Camp Nou ahead of the visit of Newcastle United.

Official Barcelona social media also confirmed the increased stadium capacity: ‘FC Barcelona has received the first occupancy license granted by the Barcelona City Council corresponding to Phase 1C of the Spotify Camp Nou, which includes the opening of the North Goal.’

That 1C license allows the stadium’s capacity to increase to more than 62,000.

Newcastle United fans now able to benefit from that, with the away allocation for Wednesday’s match increased from 2,215 to 2,986 tickets.

Rafa Yuste is the acting president of FC Barcelona since the resignation of Joan Laporta in order to run in the club’s presidential elections on March 15.
