WWE is reportedly exploring “natural adjustments” to the WrestleMania 42 card, specifically regarding the addition of stipulations to marquee matches. Sources indicate to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select that management is considering these changes to maximize the event’s appeal. The reason is to convert casual viewers watching the “preview” windows on traditional television into paid streaming subscribers.
One specific strategy involves adding a stipulation to an opening bout airing on traditional ESPN channels. By featuring a “hook” or an eye-catching match type during this free-to-air segment, WWE hopes to “catch the eye” of potential subscribers and drive them toward the full broadcast on ESPN.
This move aligns with earlier reports that the graphics and production departments have faced shifting requests as leadership searches for the perfect promotional “spark” to boost ticket sales and viewership. For more on that, click here.
The consideration of stipulations also comes as WWE reportedly prepares for a record-breaking presence from the women’s division, with up to six matches currently planned. WrestleMania 42 is scheduled for April 18 and 19, 2026, at Allegiant Stadium. The current lineup includes several title defenses:
- Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Randy Orton
- World Heavyweight Championship: CM Punk (c) vs. Roman Reigns
- WWE Women’s Championship: Jade Cargill (c) vs. Rhea Ripley
- Women’s World Championship: Stephanie Vaquer (c) vs. Liv Morgan
