Washtenaw GC Clubhouse Circa 1910

Washtenaw GC Clubhouse Circa 1910

I recently acquired a photo of the Washtenaw Golf Club clubhouse circa 1910.

In it, you can see the inter-urban train tracks that ran along Packard Road just north of the club. The photo presents a different angle from some previous ones I have acquired, which you can see in the slideshow below:

Another point of interest in the latest photo (at top) is that in the background you can see the hill that rises up from Paint Creek. The first and thirteenth currently play up that slope; most of the course is on the plateau (such as it is) beyond that crest line.

I’m guessing the date of the photo, based on the known dates of the postcards I have previously collected.

I also note with some humor the fingerprint on the photo on the right. Someone apparently touched the plate during developing.

I have had a lot of fun collecting artifacts from the Washtenaw Country Club / Washtenaw Golf Club, which is by some accounts the third oldest in Michigan, dating to 1899.
