For the second-straight offseason, Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys made a trade with the Green Bay Packers with a pass rusher involved.
This offseason’s trade wasn’t quite the blockbuster that the deal that sent superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons to Green Bay was, but the Cowboys found themselves on the receiving end of a talent they desperately needed.
Rashan Gary, Green Bay’s No. 12 overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, was sent to Dallas in exchange for a fourth-round 2027 draft pick.
The Cowboys now have an edge who has notched 46.5 total sacks over the past seven seasons. And sure, Gary likely never lived up to his draft status in Green Bay, but he’s still a talented player.
Perhaps a fresh start in Dallas is all he needs to regain his juice.
Importantly, though, he wants Cowboys fans to know that he’s not going to be the second coming of Parsons for them. They’re different players and different people.
“I don’t look at it as trading places. I’m coming here to be me and be the impact that the Cowboys need,” Gary said in a recent conversation with the media.
