Athletic Bilbao ready to cash in on Nico Williams as Arsenal and Manchester United circle – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results

Athletic Bilbao are reportedly prepared to part ways with Spanish international of Ghanaian descent, Nico Williams ahead of the summer transfer window.

Per reports, the Spanish outfit has resolved to sanction a move for the 23-year-old right winger at the end of the season after a difficult campaign marked by injuries and inconsistent performances. The club reportedly believes the player is no longer fully happy at San Mamés, making a summer departure increasingly likely.

Williams, regarded as one of the most exciting young attackers in Spanish football, has struggled to replicate the form that previously made him a standout figure for the Basque side. Fitness setbacks have disrupted his rhythm this season, limiting his influence and raising doubts about his long-term future with the club.

Despite these challenges, the winger remains a highly sought-after talent across Europe. Both Arsenal and Manchester United are closely monitoring his situation and are reportedly preparing substantial offers to convince Bilbao and the player himself.

Manchester United have tracked Williams for several years and view him as a dynamic wide option capable of adding pace and creativity to their attacking line. Meanwhile, Arsenal see the Spanish international as a potential replacement or competitor for attacking roles currently occupied by players such as Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.

However, any club hoping to secure Williams’ signature will have to meet a significant financial demand. The winger’s contract reportedly includes a €100 million release clause, reflecting his status as one of Athletic Bilbao’s most valuable assets. Despite speculation surrounding his future, his current deal with the club runs until 2035, highlighting the long-term commitment originally placed in him by the Basque side.

So far this season, Williams has made 26 appearances for Athletic Bilbao, scoring four goals and providing six assists across all competitions.

With Europe’s top clubs beginning to position themselves for the summer transfer window, the coming months could prove decisive in determining the next chapter of Nico Williams’ career. If Bilbao’s stance remains unchanged, the talented winger could soon become one of the most talked-about names in the transfer market.
