3 current international captains whom RCB can target as their next skipper

When everyone was expecting RCB to go for a domestic skipper in the IPL 2022 Auctions, they surprised all by signing Faf du Plessis. It eventually ended as a good move with Faf helping the side to two playoffs. However, since he is 40 now, RCB may not retain the veteran. That said, the franchise could still go for an overseas captain again. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three current international captains whom RCB can target as their next skipper.

1) Aiden Markram

Aiden Markram would pretty much be a like-to-like replacement for Faf du Plessis. At SRH, he did not get a lot of games and could be released by the franchise.

In RCB, he could get to open the innings. He can be trusted to do the same job Faf used to do with the bat. Also, the current South African skipper can provide some off-spin overs, which would further add balance.

2) Mitchell Marsh

Mitchell Marsh is one of the current international captains whom RCB can target as their next skipper. Marsh led Australia in the recent 2024 T20 World Cup. He would surely get backing as the T20 skipper despite the team’s failure in the West Indies and the USA.

Also, for RCB, he would be an under-rated choice. He would be an aggressive option at the top of the order and a safe bet as a skipper if he can maintain his fitness.

3) Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes is the skipper of the Test side of England. However, he has proved himself as a leader and he won’t be a bad choice as a captain in the IPL.

Stokes’ main problems are his fitness and availability. If RCB can address his availability and control his fitness better, they could have a captain who can help them win their first trophy.
