Eight teams ready to go in EIHL on Friday night

It’s almost a full schedule on Friday night with eight of the 10 Elite League teams involved in games this evening.

The top two will face each other twice this weekend, but not tonight, giving everyone else the chance to cut the gap on leaders Belfast Giants.

The evening starts at 7pm in Nottingham, where Panthers take on basement side Fife Flyers. A win would move Panthers into second and cut the gap to the leaders to four points, with a double-header against Sheffield Steelers to come next weekend followed by a pair of games against Belfast Giants.

Fifth-placed Manchester Storm host eighth-placed Coventry Blaze from 7:30pm. The teams are separated by six points heading into the final run-in. While Storm can mathematically still make the top four, they would likely need to almost win out to do so. They also have Guildford Flames just three points behind them. Coventry could move into seventh with a win and a Glasgow loss as they try to finish as high up the table as possible.

Glasgow Clan, in seventh, welcome Cardiff Devils to Braehead Arena. Clan are chasing the top six, while Devils enter their final 10 games nine points off the top of the table with very little room for error if they are to stay in the title hunt.

Guildford Flames, in sixth, visit Dundee Stars in the day’s final game. Dundee can no longer make the playoffs but are only three points above bottom side Fife Flyers. Guildford sit three points behind Storm and three ahead of Glasgow Clan in seventh.
