The poll is a bit of fun for fans to get involved with before this weekend’s top-flight fixtures, but it also suggests – if the stats didn’t already – that Fernandes is set to be in the conversation to win the Premier League Player of the Season award, come the end of the campaign.
Votes from the public will be combined with those submitted by a panel of experts and the 20 club captains, a group Bruno is of course part of, to determine the recipient of the prestigious prize.
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is the current holder of the trophy, but no club’s players have won it more times than United’s eight, since it was introduced for the 1994/95 season.
Nemanja Vidic was the last Red to be honoured with the gong in 2010/11, the second of two successes after he first picked up the silverware two years earlier.
Cristiano Ronaldo also won it twice at Old Trafford, while Wayne Rooney, Peter Schmeichel, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Dwight Yorke are on an esteemed winners’ list too.
