The Carolina Panthers are bringing back veteran safety Nick Scott after the parties agreed to terms on a one-year deal worth up to $3.25 million, agents Jeremy Appledorf and Ed Wasielewski of EMG Sports told The Athletic.

Scott, who turns 31 in May, posted a career-high 111 tackles as a leader on the back end of Ejiro Evero’s defense. He was ranked No. 133 on The Athletic’s list of the top 150 free agents.

Scott is an experienced free safety who is comfortable playing in the deep part of the field in two-high and single-high looks. He enters his eighth pro season after being taken in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams.

After four seasons with the Rams and one with the Cincinnati Bengals, Scott spent the last two seasons in Carolina. He started 21 of the 27 games he has appeared in with Carolina, totaling 141 tackles, one interception and five passes defensed.
