AEW president Tony Khan is making a bold claim about the strength of the company’s audience — saying All Elite Wrestling fans spend more money on streaming services than the fanbases of any other sports league in the world.
Khan made the comment during a recent appearance on TMZ’s Inside The Ring while discussing AEW’s recent television renewal and the company’s growing digital presence through platforms like Max alongside broadcasts on TBS and TNT. According to Khan, the statistic came as a surprise even to him during negotiations and research around AEW’s media rights.
“It’s interesting because I am always learning new data points and facts. And when we were doing our TV renewal, I learned a lot of new data that I didn’t know.”
Khan then revealed the claim that stood out most from the research surrounding AEW’s fanbase.
“And one thing that amazes me is, did you know that of all the sports leagues in the world, including the NFL, the MLB, NBA, UFC, PGA, WWE, WTA, all these places — the sports league that has the highest spend on streaming video per month of their fans of all the sports leagues in the world is AEW.”
The comment reflects how much of AEW’s content is now consumed digitally, with weekly shows and pay-per-views available through streaming alongside traditional cable distribution.
Khan has repeatedly pointed to AEW’s media strategy as a major factor in the company’s continued growth since launching in 2019. With weekly programming like AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision airing year-round, the promotion continues to expand its footprint across television and streaming.
Whether that streaming statistic holds up to broader industry scrutiny remains to be seen, but Khan clearly believes AEW’s fanbase is among the most engaged audiences in sports entertainment today.
