Dominik Mysterio Retains AAA Mega Championship, Bans Vikingo From Future Title Shots

Dominik Mysterio walked into AAA Rey de Reyes 2026 with his AAA Mega Championship on the line and heavy stakes attached to the match. By the end of the night, he left Puebla still holding the title — and ensured that El Hijo del Vikingo can no longer challenge for it while he remains champion.

The No Disqualification main event saw Dominik defend the AAA Mega Championship against Vikingo with a unique stipulation attached. If Dominik lost, he would be forced to leave AAA permanently. However, if Vikingo failed to win, he would never again be allowed to challenge for the AAA Mega Championship while Dominik held the title.

The match quickly turned chaotic with weapons coming into play early. Vikingo grabbed kendo sticks and chairs from ringside, using them to attack the champion as the two battled both inside and outside the ring. Vikingo even smashed a garbage can over Dominik’s head and used a kendo stick to continue the assault.

Dominik eventually fought back, landing a series of suplexes and a Michinoku Driver to regain control. The match continued to escalate as outside interference became a major factor. Dorian Roldán attempted to help Vikingo during the match, while Omos later appeared at ringside and inserted himself into the action as well.

The chaos reached another level when Vikingo attempted a frog splash from the top rope while wearing the championship belt around his waist. Dominik avoided the move and looked to turn the momentum with his signature 619.

Omos temporarily stopped that comeback by grabbing Dominik and slamming him onto the ring apron before choke slamming him inside the ring. However, the tide shifted again when Mini Vikingo appeared and helped neutralize the giant long enough for Dominik to recover.

With the interference neutralized, Dominik struck Vikingo with a chair before finally connecting with the 619 followed by a frog splash from the top rope. The move secured the pinfall victory and allowed Dominik to retain the AAA Mega Championship.

The result carries major consequences for Vikingo. Because of the stipulation attached to the match, he is now barred from challenging for the AAA Mega Championship for as long as Dominik remains champion.

Dominik’s victory also means he remains a central figure in AAA moving forward, keeping the Mega Championship and avoiding the stipulation that would have forced him to leave the promotion.

Do you think Dominik Mysterio will hold the AAA Mega Championship for a long time now that Vikingo is out of the title picture, or will someone else step up to challenge him next? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
