KCB Rugby wrap up regular season in style against Daystar as Strathmore beat Quins to seal 4th place

KCB Rugby confirmed their second-place finish in the Kenya Cup after a commanding 57–17 victory over Daystar at the Daystar Grounds in Athi River.

For Daystar, the loss did little to alter their campaign as they have secured another season in the top tier, sitting seventh on the log with only the possibility of dropping one position.

KCB set the tone early, with Wilfred Waswa peeling off a maul from a lineout to score the opening try, converted by Stephen Osumba. The second try came after 19 minutes when KCB pushed a powerful scrum close to the Daystar line, though Osumba’s conversion went wide.

A long lineout throw allowed Aswani to feed Andy Cole Omolo, who charged over for a centre-post try, extending the lead to 19–0. Beautiful handling by KCB saw Omolo add another centre-post try, taking the score to 26–0 and securing a bonus point.

Mike Kimwele added a try in the corner for 45–3, and Jenkins Kipruto came off the bench to score, taking KCB past the 50-point mark. Daystar responded with a converted try to reach 10 points, before adding a further seven points, but KCB sealed the victory with a final try to finish 57–17.

Elsewhere, Strathmore Leos secured a 32–10 victory over Kenya Harlequins, consolidating their position in the standings. Leos have sealed the fourth as they return to the playoffs for the first time since feature in back to back semis.
