Captain Cool’ MS Dhoni doesn’t lose his shirt that often. So when he does, it has to be something serious. What got his goat was when his IPL franchise, Chennai Super Kings, allowed Ravindra Jadeja to leave for Rajasthan Royals, a move that could have been a straight cash deal instead of a swap involving Sanju Samson. Sources said Dhoni was so upset with the trade that he is not even sure whether he will play for CSK again. Sources further insisted that the franchise has even sidelined those who facilitated the trade, apparently to pacify Dhoni.
When CricBlogger tried to reach out to Chennai Super Kings officials, none of them were available for comment. Sources close to Chennai Super Kings also revealed that no such incident involving MS Dhoni has taken place.
Sources also revealed that Sanju was MS Dhoni’s choice from the very beginning, as he saw the Kerala star as his potential successor at Chennai Super Kings. Subsequently, he gave his consent for Sanju. However, sources said that Dhoni was not consulted when the decision was taken to let Jadeja go.
“MS Dhoni has even told the franchise that this year would be his last with Chennai Super Kings after the swap,” the source added.
With MS Dhoni sharing a great rapport with Ravindra Jadeja over the years while playing together for CSK, social media is already buzzing about how the scene would unfold if and when Jadeja ends up bowling to Dhoni in this year’s IPL. The prospect of the long-time teammates facing each other on opposite sides has sparked plenty of curiosity among fans, many of whom are eager to see how the iconic CSK duo would compete against each other on the field.
