Tonight’s UFC Vegas 114 fight card was headlined by a men’s featherweight contest featuring Josh Emmett taking on Kevin Vallejos.
Emmett (19-7 MMA), a former interim featherweight title challenger, entered this evening’s main event with hopes of snapping a two-fight losing skid. The 41-year-old veteran was coming off losses to Lerone Murphy and Youssef Zalal in his most previous Octagon appearances. Prior to those setbacks, the Team Alpha Male standout had earned a brutal first-round knockout victory over Bryce Mitchell at UFC 296 (see that here).
Meanwhile, Kevin Vallejos (18-1 MMA) came into tonight’s headliner sporting a six-fight winning streak, with his most recent victory coming by way of knockout against Giga Chikadze this past December. ‘El Chino’ had suffered his lone career loss way back in September of 2023, when he dropped a unanimous decision to current featherweight title contender Jean Silva.
Tonight’s UFC Vegas 114 main event proved to be a coming out party of Kevin Vallejos. The highly touted prospect was able to get the better of Emmett right from the opening horn this evening. After dropping the American midway through the opening frame, ‘El Chino’ proceeded to finish the former interim title challenger with a flurry of knees and then a fight-ending punch. It was an outstanding performance from the youngster, one which will have him in immediate title contention.
