Everything goes wrong for Selknam against Dogos in Córdoba

Everything went wrong for Selknam in Córdoba on Saturday evening. The Chileans were crushed by Los Dogos in a humiliating and record-breaking defeat. Selknam failed to score a point all night while Los Dogos ran in ten tries. It was a 68-0 demolition job by Los Dogos.

It was an 80 minute performance from Los Dogos who scored their opening try in the 6th minute, led the contest 33-0 at half-time and more than doubled they score in the second-half. Selknam had scoring opportunities but failed to capitalize and conceded three yellow cards for defensive fouls.

Los Dogos’ scored their first try via a lineout to maul. Hooker Juan Gressing Revol went over. Second-rower Valentín Gozálvez scored the second doing so from a pick-and-go. With Julián Hernández converting, the hosts were 12-0 up after two early tries from two forwards.

From there the backs came to live. Mateo Soler scored on 15 minutes, touching down after a brilliant inside ball from Puma Faustino Sánchez Valarolo. Wingers Facundo Pueyrredón and Luciano Avaca scored in the second quarter as Los Dogos completed the bonus point win well inside the first-half.

A wonderful try resumed the scoring after the interval. Faustino Sánchez Valarolo made a half-break, off-loaded to Federico Rolotti who passed to Lucio Willington. Julián Hernández then ran a support line and scored.

Nicolás Revol Pitt followed with a regulation prop’s try from close range. Then came an unforced error with an overthrown Chilean line-out resulting in Ernesto Giúdice scoring. It was impressive from the backs but not as good as the next try, Pueyrredón’s second. It was from 90 meters and included passes and a cross-kick.

Pueyrredón scored again as the match concluded. His try in the left corner ended a memorable night for the player from the La Tablada club. In addition to Facundo Pueyrredón completing a hat-trick, Julián Hernández ended the match with 23 points.
