Kohli Congratulates Jay Shah on Becoming ICC Chairman

The most awaited news has come. After a lot of speculation, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has been elected as the new Chairman of the International Cricket Council. He will start his tenure with this new role in December 2024. After the news came out, the entire cricket fraternity was showering their good wishes on him. Virat Kohli also extended his warm wishes to Jay Shah for his new role. 

Jay Shah Became New ICC Chairman:

Jay Shah has been elected unopposed as the new Independent Chairman of the International Cricket Council. He has been the BCCI Honorary Secretary since October 2019 and the Chair of the Asian Cricket Council since January 2021. He will take on this role starting December 1, 2024. He was the only nominee for the position. Jay Shah will be the youngest person ever to hold the ICC Chair position.

After being elected for this position, he said, “I am committed to working closely with the ICC team and our member nations to further globalize cricket. We stand at a critical juncture where it is increasingly important to balance the coexistence of multiple formats, promote the adoption of advanced technologies, and introduce our marquee events to new global markets. Our goal is to make cricket more inclusive and popular than ever before.”

Later he added, “While we will build on the valuable lessons learned, we must also embrace fresh thinking and innovation to elevate the love for cricket worldwide. The inclusion of our sport in the Olympics at LA 2028 represents a significant inflection point for the growth of cricket, and I am confident that it will drive the sport forward in unprecedented ways.”

Virat Kohli’s Warm Wishes to Jay Shah:

After he was elected, the entire cricket fraternity came along to wish him on his new beginning. Virat Kohli also extended his wish to him. On his social media, he congratulated him and that caught the limelight. 

Virat Kohli said, “Many congratulations @JayShah on being elected as the ICC chairman. Wishing you great success ahead.” That Tweet has gone viral. 

After the ODI series against Sri Lanka, Virat Kohli is currently enjoying his family time. In September, India and Bangladesh are all set for a two-match Test series. Virat Kohli is set to return in the longest format. Fans are waiting for his remarkable comeback.
