Jorge Masvidal continues pushing for a clash with Conor McGregor.
Masvidal has made it clear that he isn’t done fighting. He initially retired after suffering a unanimous decision loss to Gilbert Burns back in April 2023. The following year, “Gamebred” returned to action for a boxing match against Nate Diaz. Masvidal lost that bout via majority decision.
Masvidal has found success with his own Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA promotion, but he wants to get back inside the Octagon. During an interview with TMZ, Masvidal expressed interest in a showdown with McGregor or even Leon Edwards.
“I always keep that door open. I’m always training. I’m always keeping myself prepared,” Masvidal said. “I wouldn’t mind beating the f****** living s*** out of that, what’s that little m***** Irish that sells whiskey? I wouldn’t mind beating the s*** out of him or the other f****** dude from across the pond, Leon [Edwards].”
Masvidal then used harsh words to describe McGregor, saying that the “Notorious” one has never wanted to fight him.
“I know Conor’s b**** ass ain’t taking the fight because he ain’t never accepted that fight, and it’s for a reason,” Masvidal said. “I’m a stand-up fighter. I’m better than him at the stand-up. I’m a little bigger than him, and I’m a lot meaner than that coward.”
McGregor has been preparing for a comeback fight. He was scheduled to meet Michael Chandler at UFC 303 back in 2024, but that plan went awry when McGregor suffered an injury. While some expected the former lightweight and featherweight champion to compete on the UFC Freedom 250 card, that ultimately didn’t materialize.
Whether or not McGregor will be booked for International Fight Week remains to be seen.
