Caroline Dubois Says Alycia Baumgardner Tells MVP She Doesn’t Want Super-Fight

The war of words between women’s boxing rivals Caroline Dubois and Alycia Baumgardner continued with the British fighter telling content creator Naji Chill that the American doesn’t want the super-fight, and even tells their shared representative, Most Valuable Promotions, as such.

Baumgardner, 31, forged a reputation as one of boxing’s most exciting athletes thanks to her glamorous outfits, ring-walks, and ability to separate opponents from their senses. With wins over Terri Harper, Mikaela Mayer, and Christina Linardatou she was building a sterling resume, too. However, she has flattered to deceive since signing with MVP, beating Jennifer Miranda and Leila Beaudoin in uninspiring fashion.

Though five pounds separates Baumgardner from Dubois, the fighters have been linked with one another — and 25-year-old has set her crosshairs on her rivals even with a unification fight against Harper on the horizon, April 5. Regardless, Dubois goes from strength to strength, riding the momentum of an impressive performance over Camilla Panatta, in her MVP debut, on December 19.

Baumgarder has been reluctant, so far, to entertain Dubois’s desire to fight.

Now, Dubois has had her say. “When I look at AB, I don’t see anything,” she said on the Cigar Talk podcast. “I don’t see anything with Terri, I don’t see anything that will bother me with AB.”

“She’s got skills, she’s got power, and decent speed but everything she does good, I do better.”

“I speak to [MVP co-founder] Nakisa [Bidarian] mainly, and … it’s a weird one,” Dubois said. “I sense she’s telling them she doesn’t want the fight. But I feel like Jake [Paul] and Nakisa see what that fight is for women’s boxing, and even if she squirms her way out of it, I know they’re going to be pushing it.”

“She knows what would happen in that fight,” Dubois said. “I know people will be like, ‘Alycia is a former world champion, beaten Mayer, she shouldn’t be afraid of Caroline’. But she knows she’s a gimmick, a fluke, and she knows that the loss is coming — and I think she’s scared of that.”

Dubois continued: “She’s built her brand off being a champion fighter, a woman serving hooks, but when you lose and get beat up … it’s not going to be a 10-point win, it’s going to be a knockout, brutal, her face is going to be messed up.

“She can’t come back from that,” Dubois finished. “Her ego is too big.”
