The road to a world title just took a dramatic turn.
Sampson Boxing has officially signed undefeated contender Charly Suarez—and the timing couldn’t be bigger.
With a rematch looming against Emanuel Navarrete, Suarez may be just one fight away from rewriting his career… and boxing history.
A Fight Fans Still Haven’t Forgotten
Suarez (18-0, 10 KOs), fighting out of Manila, Philippines, is still at the center of one of boxing’s most controversial moments in recent memory.
In May of last year at Pechanga Arena, Suarez faced Navarrete in a high-stakes championship bout.
The fight took a shocking turn in round six.
Navarrete suffered a deep cut over his left eye—initially ruled an accidental clash of heads. The bout was stopped and sent to the scorecards, awarding Navarrete a technical decision victory.
But that wasn’t the end of the story.
The Decision That Changed Everything
Post-fight replay told a different story.
The cut wasn’t caused by a head clash—it came from a legal punch by Suarez.
That revelation triggered a major reversal. The California State Athletic Commission overturned the result, changing it from a win for Navarrete to a no-contest.
Now, the World Boxing Organization has ordered negotiations for a rematch.
And this time, there will be no controversy left unresolved.
A Career-Defining Move
Suarez’s decision to sign with Sampson Boxing signals a critical moment in his journey.
“I am very happy to officially join Sampson Boxing and to work with Sampson Lewkowicz, who has guided many world champions in the sport,” said Suarez.
“This is an important step in my career as I continue my pursuit of a world title. I have worked my entire life for this moment, from representing the Philippines in the Olympics to competing on the world stage as a professional. With Sampson’s experience and commitment, I believe we have the right team to bring my career to the next level.”
His mission is clear.
“My goal remains the same — to bring pride to the Philippines as a soldier and a world champion boxer,” he added.
Confidence Behind the Scenes
Suarez’s team believes this partnership comes at exactly the right time.
“After carefully evaluating our options, we believe Sampson Lewkowicz and Sampson Boxing are the right partners to guide Charly at this crucial stage of his career,” said manager Delfin Boholst.
“Sampson has a proven track record of helping elite fighters secure major opportunities and world championship fights. Charly is one of the most accomplished fighters to come out of the Philippines in recent years, and we believe this partnership will open the doors necessary for him to compete at the highest level of the sport.”
Support for Suarez extends beyond the ring.
“I have always believed in Charly Suarez — not only as a talented boxer, but as a disciplined athlete who carries the pride of the Filipino people every time he steps into the ring,” said benefactor Luis ‘Chavit’ Singson.
“From his days representing our country in the Olympics to his professional career today, he has shown dedication, humility, and the heart of a true champion.”
He added:
“I fully support this partnership with Sampson Lewkowicz and Sampson Boxing, and I believe this move will help bring Charly closer to achieving his dream of becoming a world champion. The Filipino people deserve another champion on the world stage, and I am confident Charly has the ability to make that happen.”
A Promoter’s Promise
Veteran promoter Sampson Lewkowicz is confident Suarez’s moment is coming.
“I am happy to be joining the team of proud Filipino warrior Charly Suarez,” said Lewkowicz.
“I will help guide him to the world championship victory he deserves and then to the most rewarding fights available when he is champion.”
The Bigger Picture
This isn’t just about a signing.
It’s about redemption.
It’s about unfinished business.
And it’s about a fighter who was one punch away from becoming world champion—only to have it taken from him.
Now, Charly Suarez is getting another shot.
And this time, the world will be watching.
