Thomas Tuchel names his latest England squad for the upcoming games against Uruguay and Japan later this month.
The Three Lions get set for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with friendlies against Uruguay on the 27th of March and Japan on the 31st of March.
BBC Sport reported just before the announcement that Harry Maguire was set to earn an England recall, as is Kobbie Mainoo, while James Garner was in line for first call-up with Alex Scott set to miss out. Luke Shaw’s not likely to be involved with Lewis Hall set to earn a recall instead.
England are also set to face New Zealand and Costa Rica in friendlies before the World Cup starts in June
Tuchel’s side have already booked their place at next summer’s tournament in North America following their 5-0 victory over Latvia in Riga.

LATEST ENGLAND SQUAD ANNOUNCEMENT:
–
Sky Sports News’ Rob Dorsett:
“There is an awful lot of speculation before Thomas Tuchel announces that squad.
“It’s big, big news that Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is expected to be back in this England squad. He is still only 20 years old.
“The last time he played for England was the Euros final in Berling in the summer of 2024, more than 18 months ago.
“There have been no Man Utd players since that final, not a singal one has been selected by Tuchel up to this point.
“It’s a big boost to him and suggests as well that Tuchel is looking at his central midfield options; he hasn’t made up his mind. Adam Wharton and Alex Scott were both in the England squad in November, first-time call-ups for them under Tuchel.
“Both were impressive – are they both going to miss out now? I think there is a strong chance that might be the case.
“I am also hearing that James Garner is pushing very hard for a first call-up to the England senior squad as well.
“All of the options are world-class. England are the pride of world football in terms of options at No 10.
“Jude Bellingham, Morgan Rogers, Phil Foden, Cole Palmer and Eberechi Eze.
“Extraordinary players in their own right and most walk into any World Cup squad if they were of any other nationality. England are well blessed in that area and some of those players, Rogers, Foden and Palmer, are out of form.
“Bellingham has been injured and not played since February 1 but he has recovered and I expect him to be named in this squad. How much football he can play will be interesting.
“It is difficult to say who their first choice No 10 is, it was Rogers in qualfiying. He played in every single one of the eight qualifying matches but his form has dropped off for Aston Villa.
“So has Foden and so has Palmer. The stellar names are not in the best form. Eze has a lot to prove in this international camp, assuming he is called up.
“He offers the versatility of playing on the wing and we have seen his explosive return to form in the Champions League.”
