Former football star Terrance West is accused of beating a contractor and threatening him with a gun and a knife following a row over carpet stains.
The retired running back, 35, is facing changes of first- and second-degree assault over the altercation on March 4 at a home near Washington DC.
According to court documents, as reported by the Baltimore Sun, West allegedly attacked Erick Mejia, who was making repairs at painting at his home in Upper Marlboro.
It is alleged that the former NFL star grabbed one of the workers after becoming upset over stains on the carpet, Fox reports.
A physical struggle then is said to have broken out, with West accused of threatening them with a firearm and a knife. A court hearing for the case is slated for May 1.
West was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2014 NFL draft before going on to spend three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens.

During an NFL career that lasted only five years, the running back also had spells with the New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans.
The 35-year-old has been out of the NFL since 2018, despite enjoying an award-winning college career with Towson.
Earlier this month, meanwhile, prosecutors accused former NFL linebacker Darron Lee of using ChatGPT to ask for advice on how to deal with an ‘unresponsive person’ after killing his girlfriend.
Lee, 31, appeared in court on Monday for a preliminary hearing ahead of his trial for the first-degree murder of Gabriella Perpetuo and tampering with evidence.
According to Local 3 News, the prosecution offered some surprising testimony alleging that Lee consulted ChatGPT to ask how to deal with a person who is unresponsive. They claim the messages were sent to the AI bot from Lee’s phone.
In addition, he is alleged to have asked ChatGPT about injuries that would be consistent with someone falling in the shower.
