Ahooga announces UK expansion with new trade partner & growing dealer network

Ahooga, the Brussels-based compact bike specialist, today announces a major step forward in its UK expansion, confirming a new UK trade partnership and a growing network of UK dealers set to bring Ahooga’s innovative folding bike platform to more riders nationwide.

The move follows Ahooga’s €5.5 million funding round, which is being used to accelerate international growth, expand the dealer network, and continue developing Max, Ahooga’s patented folding bike platform launched in early 2024.

A focused UK expansion, built for modern city life

With the new UK trade partnership, Ahooga will support dealers with improved availability, in-store training, and a structured retail programme that makes it easy to present Max as a premium solution for modern city living.

Ahooga’s UK growth is driven by a clear belief: urban riders need bikes that fit into everyday life, not just their commute. Max is designed to deliver the ride feel and stability of a full-size city bike while folding down for apartments, trains and multi-modal journeys. For UK cities where space is tight and transport is mixed, Ahooga believes folding utility and real ride quality are becoming non-negotiable.

Dealer-first momentum (and a strengthened UK commercial team)

Ahooga’s Max platform has already built strong momentum across Europe, with more than 120 dealer points in Belgium, Germany and other key markets in under two years. The UK rollout is designed to follow the same dealer-first approach, premium, space-efficient, high-turn mobility products, supported by a strong brand story.

To support the UK push, Ahooga is strengthening its commercial capability with experienced cycling trade talent, including:

  • Matt Cooke (Cooke Components Ltd)  – responsible for UK distribution

  • Mike Clark (ex Eovolt sales representative) – responsible for London & South East Sales

  • Ralf Krause (formerly national sales responsibility at Brompton) – responsible for rest of UK and Northern Ireland sales

Hendrik Winkelmans, CEO of Ahooga, said:

“Ahooga has always stood out because it solves a real urban mobility problem with genuine engineering, not gimmicks. The UK is ready for a premium folding bike that rides like a full-size city bike but fits modern living. This trade partnership and dealer expansion is the right next step: it makes Ahooga accessible through the best retailers, with the service and support UK riders expect.”

Matt Cooke, responsible for UK distribution at Ahooga said:

“Urban riders want bikes that fit into their daily lives, not just their commutes. With Max, Ahooga has built a folding bike that rides like a full-size bicycle but folds down small enough to carry on a train or store in an apartment. That mix of performance and convenience is exactly what the market has been waiting for. The Ahooga brand has gained real traction across Europe as a lightweight, innovative and stylish folder and we’re looking forward to building its presence in the UK market.”
