The 2025/26 Women’s FA Cup reaches a decisive stage as four Southern Zone sides lock horns for a place in the final, reaffirming their dominance in Ghana’s women’s football under the organization of the Ghana Football Association.
For the second consecutive season, the semi-final lineup is dominated entirely by Southern clubs; Army Ladies, Hasaacas Ladies, FC Savannah, and Jonina Ladies, highlighting the region’s continued superiority in the competition.
Samartex Ladies vs Army Ladies
All eyes will be on the clash between Samartex Ladies and Army Ladies at the Cape Coast Stadium on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM.
Samartex Ladies, still chasing their first-ever FA Cup title, have enjoyed an impressive run to the semi-finals. They began with a commanding 3-0 win over Hassport Ladies, progressed via a walkover against Wisdom Ladies, and went on to eliminate Rootz Sistaz 2-0 in the Round of 16. In the quarter-finals, they showed resilience by holding FC Savannah to a 1-1 draw before edging them 4-3 on penalties.
Interestingly, Samartex’s journey has largely been against Division One opposition until their dramatic quarter-final victory over a Northern Zone Premier League side.
Army Ladies, on the other hand, come into this tie with pedigree and experience. The 2023/24 FA Cup champions are determined to reclaim the trophy after their early exit in last season’s competition. Their path to the semi-finals has been dominant, highlighted by a 10-0 demolition of Blessed Ladies in the Round of 64 and a convincing 4-0 win over T. Super Ladies in the quarter-finals. Other results include a 3-1 win against Valued Ladies in the round of 32 and a hard-fought 3-2 triumph over Sissamba Ladies in the Round of 16.
Currently sitting second in the Women’s Premier League with 33 points after 16 matches, Army Ladies appear to be in strong form. Notably, they have already faced Samartex this season, winning 1-0 away before playing out a goalless draw at home, giving them a slight psychological edge.
Jonina Ladies vs Hasaacas Ladies
In the other semi-final, Jonina Ladies will face Hasaacas Ladies in what promises to be a fiercely contested encounter.
Both sides were part of last season’s semi-final lineup, alongside Faith Ladies and Rootz Sistaz, making this a repeat appearance at this crucial stage. Hasaacas Ladies, one of the most consistent teams in Ghanaian women’s football, will be aiming to leverage their experience, while Jonina Ladies continue to prove their growing status as a formidable force.
Jonina Ladies enter this fixture as last season’s finalists, having narrowly lost 2-1 to Faith Ladies in the 2024/25 final. That experience has only strengthened their resolve as they return to the latter stages of the competition in search of their first-ever FA Cup title.
Their journey to the semi-finals has been consistent and composed. Jonina began with a 2-0 victory over Faith Ladies in the Round of 64, followed by a 2-1 win against Cabfix Ladies in the Round of 32. They continued their impressive form with a 2-0 win over Akosombo Ladies in the Round of 16.
In the quarter-finals, Jonina were pushed to the limit, drawing 2-2 with Supreme Ladies before holding their nerve to win 5-4 on penalties.
Interestingly, Jonina Ladies have reached this stage without facing a Premier League side, having played only Division One opposition across all rounds. Despite that, their discipline, organization, and ability to grind out results have stood out.
They currently sit third in the Women’s Premier League with 26 points and will take confidence from their recent league performances against Hasaacas Ladies. Earlier in the season, Jonina secured a 1-0 away victory, while the reverse fixture ended in a 1-1 draw at home, showing how evenly matched both sides can be.
Hasaacas Ladies, on the other hand, come into this tie with momentum, experience, and a strong winning pedigree. Semi-finalists last season, they fell narrowly to eventual champions Faith Ladies by 1-0, and will be determined to go one step further this time.
Their route to the semi-finals has been particularly impressive against top-level opposition. They opened with a 3-1 win over Blacoe Soccer Academy in the Round of 64 and followed it up with a commanding 4-1 victory over Essiam Socrates in the Round of 32.
In the Round of 16, Hasaacas defeated fellow Premier League side Epiphany Warriors 3-0, before overcoming Northern Zone leaders Ampem Darkoa Ladies 2-1 in the quarter-finals, results that underline their quality against elite competition.
Hasaacas Ladies are currently top of the Women’s Premier League table with 36 points and remain one of the most dominant forces in the game. FA Cup winners in the 2021/22 season, they bring both experience and a proven winning mentality into this crucial fixture.
The match will take place at the Cape Coast Stadium on Saturday, 21st March 2026, with kickoff scheduled for 4:00 PM after the first semifinal fixture of the day.
With two high-stakes semi-finals set for Saturday at the Cape Coast Stadium, the 2025/26 Women’s FA Cup is perfectly poised for a thrilling finish. From Samartex Ladies’ quest for a historic first title to Army Ladies’ push to reclaim their crown, and from Jonina Ladies’ hunger for redemption to Hasaacas Ladies’ pursuit of sustained dominance, each team carries a compelling story into the final four.
