Genesis Infinite Blue 1.23 Review: A Crisp, Spin-Friendly Poly That Deserves More Attention

Even though Genesis isn’t the most well-known brand in the tennis string market, you occasionally come across a string that makes you question why it isn’t used more frequently. For me, one of such strings is Genesis Infinite Blue 1.23.

After using it on the court for a while, I think this is a beautiful string with a little harder feel that rewards confident swings and produces a really pleasant response when you hit the ball cleanly.

Tech & Specs

  • Gauge: 1.24mm (tested) (also comes in 130mm)
  • Material: Co-polyester
  • Shape: Shaped (Hexagonal)
  • Colour: Blue (Also comes in black and yellow)

First impressions

The hexagonal co-polyester string Genesis Infinite Blue is made to maintain great tension, spin, and control.

You can see right away that this poly isn’t particularly soft. Players who prefer a solid, linked feel when the ball strikes the strings will find the stringbed’s stronger, more controlled response appealing.

Nevertheless, during my hitting sessions, it never seemed harsh or painful. Simply put, it feels steady and sharp, which might boost your confidence when swinging forcefully.

Spin & Ball Bite

Infinite Blue grips the ball very well because it has a hexagonal shape.

From the baseline, I could see that the ball was spinning a lot when it came off the strings, especially on topspin forehands. The edges of the string help give the ball that extra bite, which lets you shape it and keep it inside the lines.

The spin isn’t as strong as with some very sharp polys, but it feels very controlled and predictable, which I like.

Power and Control

One thing I appreciated about this string is the balance between power and control.

It’s not a very lively poly, but it still has enough pop to keep the ball moving around the court. When you swing all the way through, the string gives you clean, deep shots. The firmer feel also helps you control the direction of your shots, making it easier to aim for targets and trust where your shots will go.

Feel and Comfort

This is where people might not agree on the string. Infinite Blue is definitely firmer than some softer polys. People who like very soft or stretchy strings might notice that right away.

But I really liked the feedback it gives. The response feels strong and accurate, which makes it feel like the racquet is connected to the ball during rallies.

It works great for players who want a crisp poly that is still easy to play with.

Durability and Tension Maintenance

This string also lasts a long time, which is another good thing. Genesis made the string so that it would keep its tension well while also giving you spin and control, and that was clear during testing.

The stringbed stayed the same for a long time, and the playability didn’t drop off as quickly as it did with some softer polys.

That’s a big plus for players who restring their racquet often but still want it to work the same way every time.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • excellent spin from the hexagonal profile
  • firm, crisp and controlled response
  • strong tension maintenance
  • durable for a shaped poly

Cons

  • firmer feel than many modern polys
  • players seeking a softer string may prefer something more elastic

Comparable strings

To put Genesis Infinite Blue 1.23 into context, here are a few comparable polyester strings with similar spin and control characteristics:

  • Restring Zero 1.23 mm – Softer and more muted; Infinite Blue feels firmer with clearer feedback.
  • Toroline O’Toro 1.23 mm – More control-focused; Infinite Blue feels slightly livelier.
  • Dunlop Explosive Speed 1.25 mm – Softer and more powerful; Infinite Blue offers firmer control.
  • Solinco Tour Bite 1.25 mm – Stiffer with extreme spin; Infinite Blue feels smoother and more forgiving.

Overall Impression

In general, Genesis Infinite Blue 1.23 is a lot of fun to use.

It does feel firmer, but it’s also a beautiful string that gives you great spin, control, and consistency. When you swing hard, you get clean ball contact and shots that go where you want them to go.

This string is definitely worth a try if you like polyester strings that are sharp and controlled and have a good bite on the ball. It’s also a good reminder that some of the best strings are the ones that don’t get a lot of attention.
