Eddie Edwards isn’t chasing dream matches in WWE NXT — and he made that crystal clear when discussing the ongoing relationship between TNA Wrestling and WWE’s developmental brand. While the partnership has opened doors for crossover appearances and new match possibilities, Edwards says his attention remains firmly planted inside TNA.
During a recent interview with Q101, Edwards was asked about potential matchups with NXT talent and whether there were specific opponents he wanted to face. With fresh talent moving between brands and fans speculating about crossover bouts, it was the perfect opportunity for Edwards to pitch dream matches — but instead, he took a different approach and emphasized loyalty to his current locker room.
Rather than campaigning for a move or calling out specific NXT stars, Edwards explained that his mindset revolves around serving whatever role is needed for TNA and his faction, The System.
“You know, I don’t want to sound too much of a veteran mentality again, but you know, it’s kind of like whatever is needed, I will gladly do. I you know, there’s nothing there’s nothing in NXT or or anybody that I’m looking at where I’m like, ‘Hey, get me over there. I need to do this.’ Cuz I am very much focused in the moment on TNA, you know? I’m focused about on our locker room type of thing.”
That statement sends a clear signal about where Edwards stands. While some wrestlers openly push for crossover opportunities or dream matches, Edwards framed his approach around leadership and responsibility within TNA rather than chasing outside exposure.
Still, that doesn’t mean he’s shutting the door on crossover competition. Edwards made it clear that if NXT talent wants to step into TNA territory, they’ll be welcomed — and tested.
“But again, if anybody wants to come over, anybody wants to, you know, test their medal in TNA, I say go for it. The more the marrier type of thing and and kind of see how they stack up against our roster, but there’s nothing I’m dying for like, please, please, please send me to NXT so I can do this.”
His comments also suggest that while crossover opportunities are exciting, they must make sense for the bigger picture. Edwards explained that he would be willing to take part in those moments if they were needed — particularly if it involved representing his faction as a unit.
“I would gladly do it if it was needed and it was called for, especially if it was with the system. I would love us as a group to to go over there or go anywhere that we’re needed type of thing. But um I think the important thing is like the opportunity is there and the chances will be there at some point.”
The ongoing working relationship between TNA and NXT has already created new opportunities for talent on both sides, giving fans matchups that might not have been possible just a few years ago. Edwards’ stance shows that while he respects the value of those cross-promotional moments, his primary mission remains helping TNA grow and strengthening the group he represents inside the company.
