It’s another full schedule this Sunday afternoon in the Elite Ice Hockey League.
Results on Saturday night mean the league title cannot be clinched today, and the wait for a chance at the league trophy will go on for another week.
In pole position for that are Belfast Giants. Defeat on Saturday means that the Giants cannot win the league this afternoon, and they travel to Glasgow to face a Clan side that beat them less than 24 hours ago.
At the Motorpoint Arena, Nottingham Panthers continue their chase of the Giants with a reverse meeting against Sheffield Steelers. The Panthers came away with a 4-2 win on Saturday to stay in the title race, and a victory here would set them up well ahead of next weekend’s double-header in Belfast. Sheffield fell to fourth after defeat on Saturday.
From 5pm, Cardiff Devils take on Dundee Stars in the second meeting of their weekend double-header. The Devils had a shutout win on Saturday that saw them climb into third in the standings.
Manchester head into Fife in fifth place, having re-extended their cushion over Guildford to two points on Saturday night. Fife, sitting last, had a good start in Coventry but eventually fell to a four-goal defeat.
The day ends with Guildford back on home ice to face Coventry. The teams are separated by one place and two points in the middle of the table, with the Blaze having a game in hand. The teams are playing for playoff seeding ahead of the post-season in what is increasingly becoming a congested middle of the pack.
