England squad named for World Championships

England have named eight players in the squad to compete at the home ITTTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals London 2026 – with two wildcards to be added in the next few weeks.

Tom Jarvis, who memorably reached the last 16 of the individual World Championships in Doha last year, leads the men’s quartet.

He is joined by 2016 World Championships bronze medallists and Olympians Paul Drinkhall and Sam Walker, and Connor Green.

The women’s team is spearheaded by Olympian Tin-Tin Ho, alongside Tianer Yu, Jasmin Wong and Ella Pashley.

The squads are the same as those on duty at last year’s European Championships.

With squads of up to five allowed at the World Championships, the final members in each squad will be named in early April.

This will give other players the chance to put themselves in the frame, with the places being assessed by coaching staff based on a number of performance metrics.

Gavin Evans, Director of Performance Development, said: “It’s exciting to name eight athletes in the England squad for a home World Championships and I know all of them are relishing the chance to take on the world’s best players in front of a packed home crowd.

“Those athletes who are just outside the team have a great incentive to secure the fifth spot and put on the England kit for this once-in-a-generation opportunity.”

England have three massive matches at OVO Arena Wembley on the Early May Bank Holiday weekend on 2-3 May as they take on some of the top seven nations in the seeding matches.

That will determine their place in the draw for the last 32, which gets under way from Monday 4 May.
