Honouring the past, one shift at a time
Former team-mates, coaches, and fans are meeting once more as Murrayfield comes alive for The Gathering: Sticks, Stories & Old Glory, an unforgettable hockey reunion celebrating the bonds, memories and moments that defined generations of local hockey.
Taking place on Saturday 9th May at Murrayfield Ice Arena from 2pm to 11pm, the reunion will bring together players, coaches, referees and supporters from across eras to share stories, relive rivalries, and reconnect with the spirit of the game.
“This event isn’t about wins and losses—it’s about friendship, tradition and the shared love of the rinks,” said Denis Clair and Freddy Wood, event organisers and former players.
“We’ve all spent countless hours on the ice together and this is our chance to honour that time, one shift at a time.”
Highlights of the event will include:
- Opening Ceremony and Team Roll Call – recognising players from across the years
- Top table including legendary coaches Alex Dampier and Peter ‘Jonker’ Johnson
- Memory Lane Social Hour – photos, jerseys and stories from the golden days
- Legacy Tribute – honouring former players, coaches and contributors
Fans from all teams, families and the local community are invited to attend and celebrate the lasting legacy of the sport that brought everyone together.
Tickets are free and limited – please only select one if you are 100% sure of attending the event.
