Max Holloway is targeting a rematch with Conor McGregor, and he isn’t opposed to any weight class to get it.
It’s hard for some MMA fans to believe that Holloway and McGregor crossed paths nearly 13 full years ago. Neither man had reached their prime, and Holloway in particular was rather green in the sport of MMA. McGregor won that encounter via unanimous decision, but he suffered a torn ACL during the bout.
Both men would go on to have Hall of Fame-worthy careers. While McGregor became the megastar, Holloway emerged as the fan favorite warrior.
Over the years, “Blessed” and the “Notorious” one have shown mutual respect, but have also teased a future rematch. Holloway uploaded a new video on his YouTube channel expressing interest in a second clash with McGregor (via MMAFighting).
“Before the fight, I was talking about it,” Holloway said. “I mean Conor’s there, Conor got one over me. He’s talking about coming back. I’m coming off a loss. It would look pretty fun to get that one back with him.”
Many fans have dismissed the idea of McGregor ever fighting at 155 pounds again. If that is the case, Holloway is willing to chase McGregor at welterweight or even higher.
“I know a lot of people are worried about the weight and this and that,” Holloway said. “If he doesn’t want to cut weight then I don’t want to cut weight. We can do it at any weight to be honest. It’s just about getting it back.
“At the end of the day, that would be a fun fight but we’ll see what happens. We’ll see what way the UFC wants to go and that’s all we can do.”
Holloway was last seen in action during the UFC 326 main event. He put the BMF Championship at stake against Charles Oliveira but lost the title via unanimous decision.
