Elena Rybakina defeated Marta Kostyuk in straight sets to confirm her place in the fourth round of the Miami Open.

Rybakina is one of the favourites in Miami and she’s lived up to that tag by not dropping a set so far in her first two matches.

The new world number two has already won the Australian Open, and reached the final of Indian Wells, so she is looking to continue her incredibly impressive season in Miami.

With her victory over Kostyuk, Rybakina confirmed a feat that no other player on the WTA Tour has managed in 2025.

Elena Rybakina’s consistent new milestone

Rybakina has been one of the standout stars on the WTA Tour so far this year, and now she has an accolade to prove it.

After comfortably defeating Kostyuk, Rybakina has become the only player in the women’s game to reach the fourth round of every WTA 1000 event so far.

Who wins more Grand Slams in their career – Elena Rybakina or Aryna Sabalenka?

The world number three has reached the round of 16 or later in Dubai, Qatar, Indian Wells, and now Miami.

Rybakina reached the third round in Dubai, in a smaller format, the quarter-finals in Qatar, the final in Indian Wells, and – so far – the fourth round of Miami.

It’s worth noting that Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka did not play in Dubai or Qatar, but it’s an impressive feat nonetheless from Rybakina.

Elena Rybakina could make up major ground on Aryna Sabalenka in Miami

Both Rybakina and Sabalenka are still fighting strong in Miami, but the former could continue her quest to world number one stardom in Florida.

Sabalenka is defending her win from last year, meaning she could lose hundreds of ranking points if she does not go deep into the competition.

Rybakina, meanwhile, only reached the second round in Miami last term, so she is already making ground on the world number one.

There is currently a 2307 point difference between Rybakina and Sabalenka, but that could be majorly cut depending on what happens in Miami.

Both players have reached the final four times between them, but Sabalenka’s victory in 2025 was the only time either was successful.
