Tyson Fury is ready to finally deliver a long-awaited showdown with Anthony Joshua after his comeback against Arslanbek Makhmudov.
Fury and Joshua have been linked to a bout for over a decade, but a much-anticipated meeting has so far failed to materialise.
‘The Gypsy King’ will end his latest retirement when he faces Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 11 and the Morecambe man remains hopeful of landing a clash with ‘AJ’, which he believes remains the biggest fight to make in the sport.
“Of course, if it’s a fight to be made, let’s get it done,” the 37-year-old told Sky Sports.
“Let me get Makhmudov out the way, and we’re on.
“The biggest fight for me in world boxing and the biggest fight in the world of boxing is me versus AJ.
“Even today, even after all these years it’s still the biggest fight in boxing, it’s still the biggest fight.”
Joshua’s future appeared uncertain after he was involved in a fatal car crash in December which took the lives of two of his close friends and left him with minor injuries, just 10 days after he knocked out Jake Paul.
The 36-year-old has begun training camp in Spain and his promoter Eddie Hearn, who will join him in camp this week, told Pro Boxing Fans on Saturday that the two-time heavyweight world champion is likely to return to the ring in July.
“I think it’s very likely he’ll have that warm-up fight in July,” Hearn said.

“Obviously there’s conversations with Turki Alalshikh and his representatives will be with me next week.
“A lot of it is how he feels. He’s done four days in camp and he’ll have his second week next week.

“If he feels unbelievable and watches Fury vs Makhmudov and goes, ‘f*** it, I’ll go straight in’, maybe.
“But my gut feeling is we’ll have that fight in July and then fight Tyson Fury at the end of the year.”
