Dustin Rhodes Back In AEW Ring Months After Double Knee Replacement Surgery

Dustin Rhodes is already taking visible steps toward getting back inside the ring, as a new update shows the AEW veteran actively testing his knees months after undergoing major surgery.

According PWInsider, Rhodes was backstage at the AEW taping in Fresno, California While his presence alone was notable, what happened before the show began has sparked discussion about a possible return to in-ring action.

Rhodes was reportedly working backstage as a Producer during the taping, continuing to stay involved behind the scenes. However, he was also seen getting physical inside the ring ahead of the event, which is often an important sign of progress during recovery.

“Rhodes was working as a Producer. He was also in the ring at one point before the show running the ropes in the ring, likely working towards being cleared by AEW’s medical team to perform in the ring.”

Running the ropes is typically one of the early physical benchmarks wrestlers attempt when testing their readiness following surgery. Seeing Rhodes take that step suggests he may be moving closer to medical clearance. The reaction backstage was also reportedly positive, with colleagues welcoming him back after his time away.

“We are told that everyone backstage was very happy to have Rhodes, who underwent a double knee replacement last year, back around and Rhodes was said to have been in good spirits being back at work.”

Rhodes underwent double knee replacement surgery in August 2025, a procedure that placed his wrestling future into question at the time. While there is still no confirmed timeline for his return to competition, this latest development signals meaningful progress in his recovery.

For now, Rhodes continues contributing behind the scenes while steadily working toward the possibility of stepping back into the ring.

Do you think Dustin Rhodes will make one more in-ring comeback after his recovery, or should he focus on working behind the scenes moving forward? Drop your thoughts and feedback below.
