Kenya Lionesses fell to a 27-0 defeat against South Africa women’s sevens rugby team in their latest outing at the Estadio Charrúa during the ongoing SVNS 2 tournament in Montevideo.

South Africa made an early statement, needing just four minutes to break the deadlock through Maria Tshiremba, though Nadine Roos missed the conversion for a 5-0 lead. The pressure continued to mount on the Lionesses, and Byrhandré Dolf crossed over just before the break to give South Africa a 10-0 advantage at halftime.

In the second half, Kenya introduced fresh legs with Freshia Oduor, Judith Okumu, and Marvel Laura Oswago, but South Africa maintained their dominance. Dolf returned to score her second try of the match, stretching the lead to 15-0.

Patience Mokone then added another try to push South Africa past the 20-point mark, before Roos successfully converted to make it 22-0. Mokone would later seal the emphatic victory with her second try, completing a brace and handing her side a convincing 27-0 win.
