Sebastian Korda will try to build on his big win over Carlos Alcaraz when he faces Martin Landaluce in the Miami fourth round on Tuesday. Valentin Vacherot and Arthur Fils are also aiming for a place in the quarterfinals.
(24) Valentin Vacherot vs. (28) Arthur Fils
Fils is coming off the self-proclaimed best match of his career as he heads into fourth-round action at the Miami Open on Tuesday afternoon. The 31st-ranked Frenchman erased Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-0, 6-1 in a mere 55 minutes on Sunday night. Fils is now 11-4 this season and has not yet lost a match to an opponent ranked worse than No. 8 in the world.
Up next for the 21-year-old is a first-ever meeting with Vacherot, who has advanced with straight-set victories over Mariano Navone and Matteo Berrettini. However, winning a third match at a single tournament has been a stumbling block for Vacherot in 2026 and that will likely be the case again in Miami. Fils is on fire and the Frenchman’s forehand will have the Shanghai champion playing a lot more defense than he would like.
Pick: Fils in 2
(32) Sebastian Korda vs. (Q) Martin Landaluce
Korda has been a Florida resident his entire life, and he is certainly enjoying some home cooking this spring. The world No. 36 lifted the Delray Beach trophy last month and he upset Carlos Alcaraz 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 at the Miami Masters on Sunday. Korda is now 12-5 for the year, and his current fortnight also includes a 6-0, 6-3 rout of Camilo Ugo Carabelli.
Although Korda’s third-round draw was terrible on paper, a much friendlier one awaits him in the last 16. Landaluce is a 20-year-old Spaniard who had been a hopeless 2-14 all time at the ATP level prior to arriving in Miami. From virtually out of nowhere, he qualified for the main draw and then ousted Marcos Giron, Luciano Darderi, and Karen Khachanov. Landaluce is a legitimate future prospect, but Korda is the far more polished and experienced player right now. Although it’s never easy to follow up a monumental result in the very next round, it shouldn’t matter for Korda in this case given that he is facing an opponent who is dealing with an even more unprecedented situation.
