Movement is one of the biggest skill gaps in Deadlock, and one of the most important mechanics to learn early is the dash-jump. It’s a simple mechanic once you get it down, but it makes a massive difference in how quickly and smoothly you move around the Cursed Apple, and also allows you to utilize items like Kinetic Dash or Arcane Surge.
What is a Dash Jump in Deadlock?
A dash-jump in Deadlock is exactly what it sounds like: combining your dash with a well-timed jump for extra momentum.
Here’s how to do it:
- Use a dash (consumes stamina) in any direction
- Right as the dash is ending, jump
The timing is key. If you jump too early, you’ll lose momentum and won’t complete the dash-jump. If you jump too late, you won’t get the boost. You want to hit jump right at the tail end of the dash.

Why Dash Jumping Matters
Dash-jumping lets you use Items like Kinetic Dash or Arcane Surge and helps to cover ground faster when rotating, chasing, or escaping in Deadlock.

It’s especially useful when moving between lanes or repositioning in fights. Once you get comfortable, you can chain dash-jumps and slides together to move around the map much more efficiently and smoothly.
Go into the practice range or sandbox and just focus on the timing. This is one of those mechanics that quickly becomes second nature, and once it does, your movement in Deadlock will feel completely different.
