Two quarterfinals, from the bottom half of the draw as Victoria Mboko battles No. 13 seed Karolina Muchova for a spot in the final four.
They’ve played once before, in the final of the WTA 1000 in Doha in February. Mboko had already beaten Andreeva, Rybakina and Ostapenko as Muchova won in two close sets.
Muchova is 10 years older than Mboko. But crazily, that was her first WTA Tour title (and first 1000 title). Mboko already has two,including the 1000 in Montreal.
