On March 28, at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Sebastian Fundora vs Keith Thurman headlines a PBC Pay-Per-View event, with Fundora’s WBC title up for grabs. The event will be promoted by TGB Promotions and Sampson Boxing.
These two were originally set to meet last October, before a hand injury to Fundora led to the card being postponed. Ahead of this world title showdown, former Fundora opponent Tim Tszyu spoke to Fight Hub TV, giving his unique insight into the champion’s chances.
Sebastian Fundora vs Keith Thurman set for Las Vegas showdown
Fundora (23-1-1, 15 KOs) was last in action when he stopped Tim Tszyu, with the Australian retiring after round seven. That win backed up Fundora’s bloody split decision triumph against Tszyu in 2024, a win that gave “The Towering Inferno” the WBC strap.
Thurman (31-1, 23 KOs) has beaten some elite fighters, including Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter. His only defeat came in 2019, when he lost to Manny Pacquiao. Since that defeat, Thurman’s career has almost ground to a halt, fighting only twice against Mario Barrios and then last March against Brock Jarvis, winning by third-round TKO.
Sebastian Fundora vs Keith Thurman: Tim Tszyu explains his pick
Speaking to Fight Hub TV and breaking down his pick for Sebastian Fundora vs Keith Thurman, Tszyu said:
“I think Fundora wins. The thing with Fundora, he’s very tall, and when he throws punches, it’s like he just throws down, and it doesn’t take much energy. It’s not like his punches are physically hard, but they’re very stingy, and they’re just non-stop, bam, bam, bam, bam, and with that type of style, it doesn’t make you breathe.
“It doesn’t make you rest unless you work your legs, and I think Keith Thurman’s good at working his footwork, and he’s able to manoeuvre and then punch and come in different angles. His head’s all over the place at times. He knows how to work the body. So it’s gonna be an interesting fight. But with how Fundora fought in the last fight, he’s a hard man to beat.”
